Salou, February 2026.– Challenge Salou – Costa Daurada has been honoured with the “Most Family Friendly” award at the 2025 Challenge Family Race Awards, an international recognition celebrating the highest-rated events across the global Challenge Family calendar.
The award was presented during the Challenge Family Awards Gala, held over the weekend of 7–8 February 2026 in Gran Canaria (Spain). At the same time, the island also hosted the annual Challenge Family Race Director Meeting, bringing together race directors from all Challenge Family events worldwide.
Established in 2019, the Challenge Family Awards aim to recognise the dedication and contribution of race directors and organising teams to the sport of triathlon. Each category shortlist is determined based on post-race athlete surveys, with final rankings decided through direct voting by athletes.
For the 2025 awards, the voting period ran from December 2025 through 4 January 2026, during which thousands of athletes from around the world shared and rated their race experiences.
The “Most Family Friendly” award highlights events that stand out for their welcoming, inclusive atmosphere and their ability to offer a meaningful experience not only for athletes, but also for families and supporters.
“Having these awards decided by athlete voting makes them especially meaningful, because they reflect real athlete experiences,” said Challenge Family CEO Jort Vlam. “At Challenge Family, we believe every athlete matters, regardless of their goal. This recognition further cements Challenge Salou – Costa Daurada as one of the most highly regarded events on the Challenge Family circuit and reinforces its commitment to delivering a race experience where sport, family and community go hand in hand.
