800 triathletes from all over the world are preparing to conquer the OTSO Challenge Salou

Salou will host the 9th edition of this international triathlon event on Sunday, June 2nd

In a few days, the city of Salou will be ready once again to receive 800 triathletes from 43 different countries who will participate in the 9th edition of the OTSO Challenge Salou, one of the most important triathlon events on the Costa Daurada.

The race, which will take place next Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, will offer Middle Distance(individual and relays), Short Distance and Fast Distance races, so that all those who are passionate about this sport can find their perfect challenge.

A challenging route for all distances:

  • Middle Distance and Middle Distance Relay: 1.9km swim, 80km bike and 21km run.
  • Short Distance: 1.9km swim, 54km bike and 11km run.
  • Fast Distance: 950m swim, 27km bike and 5km run.

The competition will begin at 8:00a.m. on Sunday, and the first athlete is expected to cross the finish line (located in the Plaça de les Comunitats Autònomes, the epicentre of the triathlon throughout the weekend) around 11:50a.m.

It should be noted that the OTSO Challenge Salou will not only distribute a total of €25,000 for the top 6 finishers (men and women) in the Middle Distance, but it is also a qualifying event for The Championship, to be held in Samorin, Slovakia. It will also distribute points for the Challenge Family World Bonus with $100,000 in prizes.

With this award, Salou becomes a silver category event of the Professional Triathlon Organization (PTO), so athletes will add valuable points for the world ranking of this organisation. Likewise, for the fourth consecutive year, Salou will be a valid race for the national Middle Distance ranking of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI).

Salou is within the Challenge Family world triathlon circuit, with more than 35 races around the world, this entails figures as attractive as these: 43 countries represented and 40% of international origin.

More than just a race

OTSO Challenge Salou is not only a race, but a sporting event for the whole family. Various parallel activities will be organized during the weekend, such as the ABUS Bike Course Check (a non-competitive 28km recce of the bicycle sector), the Family Run (a 2 km fun race open to all ages) and Zumba for the whole family.
